Fast, simple and reproducible handling of test specimens: New Voltavision cell contacting systems for round and small pouch cells in battery test laboratories
Test laboratories for high-voltage components are subject to particularly high requirements in terms of safety, performance and accuracy. With the new ESR-45 cell contacting systems for round cells and ESF-45 for smaller pouch cells, Voltavision is therefore offering two further in-house developments that combine simple handling with a robust design and enormous adaptability with consistently high contact quality. A homogeneous temperature distribution within the chamber and fast, reproducible handling of test specimens is guaranteed at all times. Both systems also impress with their space-saving arrangement and simple integration into the test chamber, as several battery cells can be inserted into a 19” rack at the same time. The contacting systems do not require any cabling on the test object and can be operated almost completely without tools. It is also possible to prepare the test setup outside the test chamber.
As a leading testing specialist for cells, modules and battery systems, Voltavision also develops its own test equipment for the best possible execution of the tests. With these cell contacting systems, the Bochum-based company also offers other test laboratories a new solution for use under the highest laboratory demands and test conditions for fast and reproducible contacting of round and pouch cells of various sizes.
Voltavision ESR-45 for round cells of various sizes
The new ESR-45 contacting system can accommodate cylindrical cells with a diameter of 18 to 46 mm and a length of up to 95 mm. It therefore also covers all common round cell formats from the automotive sector. In a space-saving 19″ size with dimensions of 269 mm x 51 mm x 129 mm, several test specimens can be accommodated next to each other and tested with consistent contact quality thanks to the optimized cell holder. A temperature range from -40 °C to +80 °C can be covered. The current carrying capacity at a constant 20 °C is 45 amperes per cell.
Voltavision ESF-45 for pouch cells
The new ESF-45 is the solution for fast and reproducible contacting of small pouch cells. The space-saving design, the use of first-class materials and the combination of the slide-in module with clamping plates as a unit enable a high and consistently accurate test quality. As with the ESR-45, a temperature range of -40 °C to +80 °C is covered, with a current carrying capacity of 45 amperes per cell at a constant 20 °C. Last but not least, there is the option to integrate a reference electrode.
