Insights for pupils at Voltavision's battery test center: CArduino excursion day of the MINT.BOchum support network

Technical interest is a top priority for the young people involved in the CArduino project of the zdi network MINT.BOchum. In a six-month online project, the pupils work on the construction of remote-controlled model vehicles. In addition to the weekly online seminars, excursion days are also on the agenda for the young STEM talents of the talent promotion project in order to gain insights into practical work. For example, six participants aged 14 and over not only had the opportunity to find out about study programs and more during a visit to Ruhr University and Bochum University of Applied Sciences, but also to take a look behind the scenes at Voltavision's development and test center. The young people were able to immerse themselves in the day-to-day work of the experts on site and learn more about the services of the leading test specialist for high-voltage batteries in the automotive industry. The excursion concluded with a tour of the laboratory at the headquarters in the Technology Quarter, including a discussion with Johannes Averkamp, automation engineer at Voltavision.
Promoting young talent is very important to the brothers Nils and Julian Stentenbach, who founded Voltavision in 2011. “We are enthusiastic about the cooperation with the zdi network MINT.BOchum, which Johannes Averkamp initiated. As a team of over 183 colleagues, we are making our contribution to the change towards more sustainable mobility and see how important it is to get young people excited about technical professions, show them the diversity and actively encourage their interest. Having already worked closely with Bochum University of Applied Sciences, we are now delighted to be able to provide more support to school pupils through our cooperation with MINT.BOchum. The visit as part of the CArduino excursion day was just the beginning. We are looking forward to further projects and, of course, to the finished electric vehicles that the young people will build at the end,” says Nils Stentenbach, Managing Director of Voltavision.
